Our Rating System Works on a grading scale from A to F:
Excellent merchant account. This means that your account is well organized and your fees are below industry standards. All your downgrade charges and percentages are as low as reasonably attainable. Unless you are completely dissatisfied with the level of service you processor is providing then you probably won’t find another solution that is worth the time and effort to switch.
Good merchant account. This means that you have a competitive rate. While your fees may not be the lowest they could possibly be, you probably don’t have many unnecessary or miscellaneous fees. If the service that you are being provided doesn’t match your satisfaction or you want to try and save a little extra money you could probably find a solution that would be a bit cheaper. However, the amount of time you spend to find another solution may not be worth the amount of money that you can save.
Average merchant account. This means that you are paying several unnecessary and miscellaneous fees. It can also be that you have high downgrade charges or that your processing rate is a great deal higher then it should be. This may be the case if you have very poor credit. However, you could probably find a better merchant account to suit your needs. Get quotes from other companies to find a better offer and take them back to your processor to see if they can beat the rates you are currently paying.
Merchant account is below average. This means that you are paying quite a lot of fees that are unnecessary and / or high prices for your processing. You might also be paying extremely high downgrading charges or have an abnormally high percentage of downgrading transactions that are costing you much more than is necessary. Unless your business type is considered to be high risk, or you have very poor credit you can easily find a better merchant service provider for your business.
Unsatisfactory merchant account. This means across the board you are paying way too much. Your provider may have set you up as the wrong account type, forcing your fees to be way above what they should be. This may also mean that you are being deceived by your provider. Either way your current provider is way over charging you and ripping you off. They may have a lack of understanding for your business or just don’t care. Find a new provider immediately.
